New FREE Health Walks for Thamesmead
7th March 2019
With warmer weather on the horizon, Greenwich Get Walking is proud to welcome two new walks to its programme.
The move sees our hugely popular group walks spread east of the borough to Thamesmead. It brings fresh opportunities for residents to get outside and get moving this spring.
Thamesmead boasts 7km of canals and five major lakes, all waiting to be explored. Our new walks provide a unique glimpse of the borough’s vibrant and diverse inland waterways, making a great addition to the Health Walks on offer.
With Greenwich Get Walking, you can take part in a range of weekly led walks, starting from various points around the borough, encompassing some of the best green spaces Royal Greenwich has to offer. These include the Green Chain, the Thames Path and areas of Greenwich’s rich heritage.
Not only is walking a great way to move more, every day, it can help boost energy, fitness, and your mood, and be an opportunity to socialise and catch up with friends.
Funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and delivered by Charlton Athletic Community Trust, Health Walks are fun, sociable and completely FREE to ALL who want to join, no experience necessary. Our friendly, volunteer walk leaders are on hand to guide you all the way.
Would you like to come along? Our brand-new walks meet each week outside the main entrances at the following venues and times:
Gallions Reach Health Centre, Wednesdays, 9.45 am-10.45 am
Heronsgate Medical Centre, Saturdays, 10:00 am-11:00 am
There’s no need to book, just turn up and register at the start of the walk. For more information, call the Live Well Greenwich line free on 0800 470 4831 or email Greenwichgetwalking@cact.org.uk.
