Walking

Walking is a great way to move more, every day.

It can help boost energy, fitness, and your mood, and be an opportunity to catch up with friends and family. It also saves time, money and helps the environment at the same time!

Plan your walk journeys by visiting Walk it, Google Maps and Journey planner.

The Green Chain walking and cycling network

The Green Chain is right on our doorstep in Greenwich and is great to explore with walks. There are parks with playgrounds, space for bikes and skateboards, cafes with lovely views and woods full of wildlife.
Visit the Green Chain website for more information.

Get Walking!

Our local programme, Greenwich Get Walking, has lots of walks for you to join for free.

If you like walks and socialising and have an hour a week to spare, you can train as a walk volunteer. For more information or to become a walk volunteer, contact info@cact.org.uk. Alternatively, call the Live Well Greenwich line on 0800 470 4831 or visit Greenwich Get Walking’s Facebook page.

Other Social Walking Groups

Other groups also meet up for walks around the Borough:

Greenwich Tour Guides offer many daily walks around Greenwich throughout the year.

Blackheath Ramblers offer monthly walks, between 3-5 miles, at an easy pace. They also offer longer walks of over 10 miles through the countryside around London.

There are also many park tours and nature rambles throughout the year. For upcoming events visit the Royal Greenwich website.
