Health Checks
The FREE NHS Health Check is a check-up for adults. It helps to spot the early signs of potential health risks before they start to affect our health.
Everyone is at risk of developing some conditions. The good news is that they can often be prevented – even if you have a history of them in your family.
A Health Check helps you prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, dementia and other conditions that we become more at risk of developing with age.
In Greenwich, residents are offered the enhanced NHS Health Check PLUS, which looks at all of the above. It also looks at your overall mental health and your risk of cancer.
Even if you feel fine, our Health Check team can help you find ways to lower your risk of developing these conditions later on by signposting you to local services that can support you to make healthy changes to your lifestyle, such as:
- stopping smoking
- drinking less
- eating well
- doing more physical activity
- looking after your mental wellbeing
Am I eligible?
You are eligible for a FREE NHS Health Check PLUS if you:
- Are between 40 – 74 years old
- Are a Greenwich resident or registered with a Greenwich GP
