Join our network of local Live Well Champions
15th November 2018
Live Well Champions winter get-together marks one year anniversary!
On Thursday 8 November, Live Well Champions joined Public Health Greenwich, and partners at Peabody, for a spectacular speed networking workshop and to hear about the exciting, new opportunities open to people who want to help improve the health and wellbeing of their communities – marking almost a year to the day that Live Well Greenwich first launched.
Live Well Champions are local volunteers who have been trained to offer signposting and support to promote good health in their communities.
All have completed Understanding Health Improvement training, a Level 2 qualification accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and delivered locally by friendly, qualified tutors who work within Greenwich Public Health.
The Champion model is a key strand of “Live Well Greenwich,” the borough-wide prevention plan set to tackle Greenwich’s high rate of preventable illness. It recognises the vital role that local people play in helping their friends, family and communities live healthier, happier lives.

Live Well Champions are a strong network of local, knowledgeable Greenwich residents who are an asset in the community.
Using their experience, knowledge and skills, they signpost the way to help people get the help and support they need to live well for longer, and increase the number of years spent living in good health.
Greenwich’s Public Health team, who co-ordinate and supervise the large network of Champions driving change across Greenwich, have been delighted by their continued interest and engagement with the programme, and their appetite to work more closely to see the model grow even further in its second year.
Live Well Champions benefit from:
- Learning new skills through practical volunteering opportunities in various settings, including community events and GP practices
- Access to free training and development, including Make Every Opportunity Count (MEOC)
- Meeting new people and connecting to the wider community
- Networking opportunities with professionals working across health and social care
- Improving their own health as well as that of friends, family and their communities
