Breastfeeding Friendly Greenwich
It’s World Breastfeeding Week and in Greenwich we’re supporting new mums to start and stay breastfeeding for as long as possible.
Breastfeeding has many benefits for mums and babies:
- Helps to protect babies from infections and other diseases
- Reduces the chance of mum getting some serious illnesses later in life, including some cancers, heart disease and osteoporosis.
- Helps to build a strong emotional bond between mum and baby.
- Is free and available whenever your baby needs it

Breastfeeding drop-ins in Greenwich help mums to get started with breastfeeding, support mums with any breastfeeding concerns, prepare for returning to work when still breastfeeding and give you a chance to meet other local mums. Visit our drop-in groups at local Children’s Centres, staffed by local Oxleas breastfeeding advocates.
Breastfeeding Friendly Greenwich
Did you know that it’s your legal right to breastfeed anywhere? But, many mums feel uncomfortable breastfeeding out and about. Look out for the Breastfeeding Friendly Greenwich sticker in local cafes, restaurants, shops, leisure centres, libraries and community centres, which gives venues a way to show they welcome breastfeeding mums.
