Choose support that’s right for you

Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. But many smokers who want to quit aren’t sure about the best way to go about it.

We know that using willpower alone (going ‘cold turkey’) is the least effective way to stop. This No Smoking Day we look at how best to boost your chance of success.

There’s a fantastic range of FREE stop smoking support on offer in Greenwich, and this year we’re supporting No Smoking Day to encourage residents to challenge themselves to give up smoking for good with the right help.

From stop smoking aids such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and e-cigarettes to friendly 1-1 support and drop-in sessions, the Live Well Greenwich Stop Smoking service are here to help you quit your way.

With so many different ways to help you quit smoking, there’s never been a better time to try, and you’re four times more likely to quit with support!

Clifford, a local resident, says: “I’d tried to quit before using an e-cigarette and it never worked. However, with the support of the Stop Smoking advisors at the drop-in and the extra products, this has helped me in successfully quitting this time around. I am very grateful for their support.”

Dalia attended a stop smoking drop-in session after finding out she was pregnant. She was initially sceptical about using NRT products because she was worried they might harm her baby. After some reassurance from her advisor, she decided to try nicotine patches and an inhalator. Although she didn’t like the inhalator, she continued with the patches and has been smoke free ever since.

She says: “The service I received during my quit attempt was very good and I couldn’t be more grateful for the support that the advisors gave me – I cannot thank them enough. I have finally achieved my goal of quitting smoking and my family are very proud of me.”
